The Barnett Shale Water Conservation and Management Committee recognizes the critical importance of conserving water and is committed to developing efficient and responsible best management practices for water used during the exploration and production of oil and gas in the Barnett Shale’s Fort Worth Basin as well as other shale plays in Texas and across the nation. These practices include environmental protections, safe operations and water reuse where feasible. This collaboration is unique in that the industry and the U.S. Department of Energy are working hand-in-hand in the development of new water technologies.
